Childbirth Services

Our birthing program and center are designed especially by and for new moms. When you first visit our labor and delivery unit, The Mom's Place, you will experience its inviting home-like ambience, but it's our philosophy of family-centered care that really sets us apart.

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit & Family Suites

CMC's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit & Family Suites offers a state-of-the-art NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit), designed to meet the distinct needs of newborns born as early as 30 weeks.

In collaboration with a team of Dartmouth Health Children’s neonatologists and advanced practice providers, we provide high quality medical expertise to monitor, treat, and care for newborns requiring intensive care.

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit & Family Suites practices Family Integrated Care, a philosophy of care designed to encourage bonding and attachment between parents and their newborns, beginning immediately after birth, and continuing throughout your NICU stay to your journey home. This model of care allows for parents/caregivers to room with their baby 24/7 and be involved in all aspects of their infant’s care.

You’re in good hands when you choose to have your baby at CMC. Our team includes all of the resources you might need from neonatologists, physicians and nurses to a lactation specialist, social workers, dieticians and physical therapists to support and educate you.

Take a virtual tour below. We look forward to meeting you and your baby.

CMC NICU Transport Team

Navigating the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) journey can be stressful for parents, especially when critical transport services are necessary. Rest assured that CMC’s highly trained NICU Transport Team is dedicated to safely transport your newborn from a referring facility to CMC’s NICU & Family Suites. Additionally, we provide advanced monitoring capabilities to ensure your baby receives the necessary care.

Unlike a standard ambulance, our vehicle is staffed with a highly skilled transport trained Registered Nurse from CMC’s NICU, an EMT/Paramedic driver, and if needed an Advanced Practice Provider depending on the acuity of the baby. An experienced Neonatologist (newborn ICU doctor) is also available by phone at all times.

A closer look at the services provided by the transport team

  • Our vehicle is equipped with a specialized incubator capable of providing respiratory support, vital sign monitoring, and thermoregulation
  • Respiratory support, IV therapy, antibiotics, phototherapy
  • Transport services are available to neonatal patients throughout New Hampshire and the Greater Boston area 24 hours a day, seven days a week

Safety & Security

We take the protection and privacy of our patients very seriously. Our locked units and infant monitoring systems assure the safety and health of you and your baby during your stay.

Caring for Our Tiniest Patients

CMC’s Special Care Nursery—long regarded for the innovative care the unit provides babies and families—has a new name. Services on the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit & Family Suites have not changed. The unit still delivers exceptional, state-of-the-art care for babies born as early as 30 weeks gestation. But the new name more accurately reflects the level of care the team provides.
