Fertility & NaProTECHNOLOGY

NaProTECHNOLOGY refers to Natural Procreative Technology, an approach to understanding women’s reproductive health and regulating fertility by identifying and treating the underlying causes of problems—not simply placing a Band-Aid on them. Instead of treating symptoms, NaProTECHNOLOGY uses natural methods and restorative surgery to treat diseases. It also pairs with the Creighton Model FertilityCare™ System, which actively engages a woman to track and manage her fertility.

Developed by Dr. Thomas Hilgers, the founder and director of the Pope Paul VI Institute for the Study of Human Reproduction in Omaha, Nebraska, NaProTECHNOLOGY treats conditions cooperatively with the menstrual cycle and avoids the use of artificial hormones and devices to regulate fertility or control symptoms.

NaProTECHNOLOGY’s restorative approach to infertility costs less than IVF treatments and has proven highly successful in helping couples achieve healthy pregnancies.

NaProTECHNOLOGY - A Natural Approach to Infertility

NaProTECHNOLOGY, short for Natural Procreative Technology, is an innovative method that respects the natural, biological processes of fertility. Hear from Dr. Olsen on what distinguishes NaProTECHNOLOGY and how it offers a more natural approach that optimizes fertility for the long term.

How NaProTECHNOLOGY Treats Fertility Naturally

NaProTECHNOLOGY uniquely addresses fertility by embracing a natural and holistic approach. Amanda Soares, APRN, explains how this method integrates advanced medical science with the natural reproductive cycles, offering personalized and effective interventions to treat fertility issues while respecting the body's inherent processes.

A More Natural Approach - Endometriosis Disease Management

Endometriosis, a chronic condition affecting the tissue lining the uterus, demands a comprehensive and thoughtful approach to management. Listen to Damian Olsen, MD as he discusses the adoption of a more natural approach, acknowledging the distinct challenges of endometriosis and customizing interventions to address both symptoms and underlying factors. Additionally, when suitable, a minimally invasive approach is integrated to minimize the impact on the patient’s body.

Dr. Kathryn A. Karges - Healthier, Natural Methods

Looking beyond symptoms and approaching the real causes with healthier, natural methods. It's time we treat the causes of infertility. Dr. Kathryn A. Karges is an obstetrician and gynecologist at CHI St. Luke’s Caritas Women’s Care in Sugar Land, Texas. She treats a variety of women’s health conditions and provides both routine and high-risk obstetrical care. She especially enjoys working with couples who seek to utilize a natural approach to managing fertility and health.

Women’s Wellness & Fertility Center Telehealth Visits

CMC’s Women’s Wellness & Fertility Center offers expanded access to care via telehealth (also called telemedicine), a remote delivery of health care services or information. These appointments allow your provider to monitor symptom progression and modify treatment plans. Providers will consult with patients via voice and video in real time.

  • Existing patients: For appointments that do not require a physical examination, a telehealth visit may be appropriate for NaPro, obstetrics, and gynecologic follow-up care.
  • For new patients: We continue to accept new patients and will work with you to decide what appointment type is appropriate for your individual needs.

Helping Couples Achieve Their Dreams

The Women’s Wellness & Fertility Center at CMC was barely open a month when Kelly and Jim Lockwood had their first appointment with Dr. Sarah Bascle. “My husband and I had been trying for a while and saw another provider in Nashua that basically said, ‘I’ve given you all the help I can but there’s a new practice opening at CMC. Why don’t you go there and see what they can do for you.’”

Delivering Care in Line With Your Religious Beliefs

Have you ever found it challenging to manage your reproductive health in a way that also respects your faith? Do you have a difficult time discussing fertility management with your provider without feeling pressured to use artificial contraception? At the Women’s Wellness & Fertility Center, we understand that effective, comprehensive women’s health can be practiced in line with one’s religious beliefs. Our providers all follow the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services while providing excellent, comprehensive women’s health services. In addition, NaProTECHNOLOGY is accepted by the Catholic Church as a way of managing fertility and was developed on the foundational principles of Pope Paul the VI’s Encyclical Letter, Humanae Vitae (Of Human Life). The restorative approach to care provided at the Women’s Wellness & Fertility Center not only allows a woman to manage her fertility in a natural, morally acceptable and effective way, it also provides successful treatment for infertility. Because NaProTECHNOLOGY identifies and addresses the underlying causes of infertility, couples are often able to achieve pregnancy while also promoting a woman’s overall wellness. This is done in a restorative way, without the use of in-vitro fertilization (IVF).
